MODULE 5 Reflection

As Moller (2008) states technologies, "on the static end are efficient at broadcasting information but do little to help learners to build their own knowledge." I have to agree with Moller in that these technologies appear to be similar to the lecture classroom method in conveying information to the learner and not helping them create their own. I must say that I fall in between static and dynamic. With these summer classes I am learning more about the dynamic technology and media which has really piqued my interest and help me become more creative in my lessons. The classes have forced me to be more creative especially this semester with all the new technologies that I was unfamiliar with. I am learning and discovering a wealth of media and technology that I would not have if it weren’t for these classes.

  4. Lynne,

It’s good to see you are excited about the new technologies you are studying. You mentioned you are now more creative with your lesson plans. How? What technologies are you now employing in your lessons? How are you employing them? Have you noticed any difference in your students’ attitudes and/or achievements? Do you notice a difference in your attitude now that you are utilizing these tools?

  5. Greetings Lynn,
I am much like you in that my courses at Walden have really open up my eyes to new technologies. As much as I thought that my school district and myself was current on technological trends now I see that we are not. My question to you is after completing your degree how do you plan on staying abreast of new technologies?

  6. Lynne,
I agree with you blog; with all the emerging technologies, we now live in a dynamic society where there is constant communication going back and forth among our peers. The funny thing is we have so many communication options its ridicules. The one question that I had is what’s the rational behind Skype being static?

  7. Christine,

Thank you for the comments. I am doing lesson plans on power point and printging them as handouts. I have also used word and have all my standards by subject in a table that I can copy and place with my lesson plans to insure that I am addressing all the standards. I am using alot more power point and now I am adding vocie. My students are paying more attention.I have a little bit of a different attitude about employing momre technology in the classroom. It is a life and time saver!

  8. A Simmons,

Some of us teachers use SKPE similar to a blog we answer when we can. I know this is not as intended.

  9. LaTonya,

Thank you for the comments. I plan on keeping up with technological changes similar to how we have found information for our class. I also intend on joining one of the educational technology sites.
